10 questions about anxiety to ask your doctor

If you have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, you will have lots of questions to ask doctors and mental health professionals. To make sure you cover everything you'd like to know about during appointments, it can help to take a list of questions with you. Here are some suggestions:

1. What are my treatment options for anxiety?
2. Will all my anxiety treatment be available on the NHS, or should I seek private treatment?
3. Will I need to take an anti-anxiety drug? If so, for how long?
4. What side effects can I expect?
5. Can I do anything to prevent them?
6. Should I begin therapy sessions? Which type?
7. How long before I can expect to feel better?
8. How likely is it that my anxiety symptoms will return?
9. What lifestyle changes can I make to help me feel better?
10. Is there a clinical trial I could participate in?
