Living with pancreatic cancer

Having a cancer diagnosis and treatment can affect many areas of a person's life, including jobs, finances, emotions and relationships.

Expert help may be needed with some practical aspects of living with cancer, including which financial benefits are available. Organisations such as the Citizen's Advice Bureau, Pancreatic Cancer UK and Macmillan Cancer Support can offer support and advice.

Cancer can also affect other financial matters, such as travel insurance.

People with a cancer diagnosis may also want to sort out their financial affairs, making sure wills are in place.

Emotional issues

A cancer diagnosis can lead to a range of emotions, including depression, shock and anxiety. People react in different ways. For example, getting a diagnosis may bring more certainty about what was causing symptoms. Other people may try to cope by carrying on as near to normal as possible.

People with concerns can seek advice from medical professionals or cancer support groups.
