Hernia directory

Hernias are organs or fatty tissue that have pushed through a weak spot in surrounding tissue. Common hernias are hiatus (stomach), inguinal (groin), umbilical (belly button) and incisional (due to an incision). Hernias sometimes occur due to increased pressure in a weakened area of the body. Treatments usually include surgery to repair the hernia. Though hernias may not be preventable in some cases, practising good posture and lifting techniques can help decrease your chances of getting them. Follow the links below to find BootsWebMD's comprehensive coverage about what causes a hernia, what it looks like, how to treat it and much more.
