Health Quiz

Could you have IBS?

Everyone has abdominal discomfort, bloating, diarrhoea or constipation sometimes. But between 10% and 20% of people in the UK who experience these symptoms have a real and treatable medical condition called irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This quiz can help you decide if you should seek medical advice about your symptoms.

  1. You have had multiple episodes of abdominal pain or discomfort in the past year.
  2. During the time you feel discomfort or pain, you notice that your bowel movements happen less frequently or more frequently than usual.
  3. You feel better once you have a bowel movement.
  4. Your stool is occasionally either very hard or soft and runny.
  5. Mucus occasionally comes out with your stool.
  6. Your stomach occasionally feels bloated or swollen.
