What is Movember?

Movember is an annual fundraising campaign in which men grow moustaches to raise awareness and money for men's health and conditions like prostate cancer.

During November men are encouraged to grow a 'Mo' - short for moustache - to increase awareness of men's health issues.

The idea for the campaign started in a pub near Melbourne, Australia, when a group of friends hit on the idea of growing moustaches as a fun way of drawing attention to health issues most relevant to men. Since then it has spread to 21 countries.

To take part in Movember, participants must start the month with a clean-shaven face and not shave their top lip until 30th November. The rules also state that moustaches cannot be joined to the sideburns (that’s considered a beard) and must not be joined at the chin (that’s considered a goatee). Moustaches must also be groomed.
