Mastitis - How common is mastitis?

BMJ Group Medical Reference

Mastitis seems to be very common in women who are breastfeeding, although it’s hard to know exactly how many women get it.

Studies show that it affects between 1 in 10 and 2 in 10 women who are breastfeeding.[3][4]

Most women seem to get mastitis in the first few weeks or months after their baby is born.[4] But mastitis can occur at any time while you’re breastfeeding, even after one year of breastfeeding.[5]
